Symposia Highlight
Program
Two symposia highlight a packed program: “Water Use, Conservation, and Public Policy for the Turfgrass Industry” (Monday evening); and “Winter Injury” (Wednesday morning). C-5 veterans take note of a new business meeting time: Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. All divisions were required to move business meetings within a narrow window on Monday afternoon.
Graduate Competitions
Full…and Then Some
Wow! Thirty-six in the oral competition and 26 in the poster competition. With society “black out” times for business meetings (Monday afternoon) and the Klepper lecture (Tuesday afternoon), this made scheduling of oral programs difficult. Graduate students will present from 7:30 a.m. to noon on both Monday and Tuesday, and Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 2:30 p.m. We’re hoping winners can be identified by Tuesday evening at the GCSAA reception. Judges could be weary after this one!
“What’s New in the Turfgrass Industry?” Forum
The C-5 Industry Committee will conduct its second
"What's New in Industry" forum at the CSSA Annual Meeting in
Reminder -
CSSA and ASA will use half-size posters this year. Posters will displayed Monday through Wednesday (all three days) on boards measuring 44½" high and 45½" wide, less a 3" × 6" area in the upper left-hand corner that is used for the poster board number. Authors will be present on only one day for a two-hour period, as in past years.

Plant Management Network Prepares to Launch Applied Turfgrass Science
Applied Turfgrass Science is an international, electronic journal dedicated to providing timely information to the turfgrass industry through research, review, and informational articles. The scope of these articles will encompass all aspects of the turfgrass industry, but will focus primarily on research and information that is relevant to the practicing turfgrass professional. In addition to research articles, Applied Turfgrass Science will publish in-depth review articles and diagnostic and management guides that will be beneficial to researchers, educators, industry representatives, and turfgrass practitioners. Applied Turfgrass Science will also provide turfgrass professionals a forum to exchange ideas, promote new products and developments, and discuss relevant initiatives and issues that face the turfgrass industry. The new journal is currently accepting articles for inclusion in the initial launch which is expected later in 2004. Interested authors are encouraged to visit the Plant Management Network at www.plantmanagementnetwork.org to see the types or articles that can be submitted and the submission guidelines (http://www.plantmanagementnetwork.org/guidelines/ ). Questions regarding article submissions can be directed to Mike Richardson, Editor, at mricha@uark.edu . (submitted by Mike Richardson)
