Planning for Turf TourPaul Johnson, Utah State University, is working hard to set up an interesting tour of turf activities in the Salt Lake area. His description of the tentative tour is as follows. Start from the convention center and travel to Glenwild Golf course in Park City, Utah to visit with managers about golf course management in mountainous regions and water issues. Also its worth the trip for the striking beauty alone. Head down the canyon along I-80 and stop at Mountain Dell Golf course. They lie right in the watershed for SLC drinking water and as a result have unique management issues and cooperation with SLC water people. Can talk further about the water distribution system in the west. The last tour stop will be the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District. Here we would get presentations on big time water distribution in the West and efforts of water conservation, etc. Other Symposia being planned: Similar to the past few years, symposia are being planned by the education, extension, industry and symposium committees. Topics for each symposium are still flexible at this time. Contact any of the committee members to share your thoughts on possible topics or presentations. |
