Poster Size and Display Times New This Year
This year all ASA and CSSA poster papers will be displayed for all three days-Monday through Wednesday-on half size boards (45.5 inches across and 44.5 inches high). This means that all ASA and CSSA posters are on display Monday through Wednesday with authors present to discuss their research for only one day (refer to program for author present time).

Since the Poster Information Desk in Exhibit Hall 4ABC will be extremely busy on Monday morning, November 1, we strongly encourage you to pick up your author sticker and purchase your Velcro in the ASA-CSSA-SSSA-CSSS Registration Center on Sunday, October 31st. You cannot mount your poster on Sunday-you can only buy Velcro and pick up your author sticker. The Registration Center is located in the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, Fourth Floor Lobby. Again, this is a special opportunity on Sunday only. Be sure to buy your Velcro on Sunday at the Poster Author Information Desk in the Registration Center! Avoid the Monday rush!!

The Lawns & the Environment Initiative

In March of 2004 a group representing industry, environmental organizations, governmental agencies, and academia convened in San Antonio, Texas to discuss and review a draft document titled “Environmental Guidelines for Responsible Lawn Care and Landscaping.”  The coalition that drafted the document was composed largely of industry representatives, environmental groups, and governmental agencies.  A dynamic and diverse group of speakers has been assembled to discuss the initiative and current homeowner focused education programs.  The speakers include:

Update on the Lawns and the Environment Initiative
Presenter: Jim Green, National Program Leader - Horticulture, USDA-CSREES

Lawns and the Environment Initiative: Industry Perspective on Consumer Attitudes to the Risk/Benefit of Lawn in Urban Settings
Presenter: Kirk Hurto, Vice President Technical Services, TruGreen ChemLawn

Innovative Approaches to Consumer Education: Earth-Wise Lawn and Landscape Care and the “If Plants Could Talk” TV Series
Presenter: William Hlubik, Rutgers Cooperative Extension

Florida’s Green Industries Best Management Practices: The Educational Program
Presenter: Laurie Trenholm, Univ. of Florida

Please join us on Sunday evening at 6:55 p.m. for an interactive and informative session (Kevin Frank).

C5 Business Meeting
A tentative agenda has been e-mailed to all committee chairs and others that requested time at the business meeting to be held Monday afternoon, 3:30 to 5 p.m.. If there’s an item you would like to see included under “New Business,” please let me know as soon as possible (jfry@oznet.ksu.edu).

TPI Proposal Discussion in Seattle
Representatives from Turf Producers International would like to have an informal meeting with extension specialists and anyone else interested to discuss educational/outreach opportunities for consumer and government officials. Those interested should meet near the C5 poster aisle at 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon.  There are no C5 sessions between 3 - 5 pm so this is a good time to get together (Kevin Frank).
